Professional Maryland Newborn Photographer | Raw Files

Maryland Newborn Photographer

In this blog, I will explain why I – professional Maryland newborn photographer – decided not to share RAW files with my clients. Let’s explore the simplicity and complexity behind RAW files and their role in creating the images that everybody loves.

professional Maryland newborn photographer

What are Raw Files?

Let’s first explained what the Raw files actually are. RAW files are unprocessed, high-quality image files that contain all the data captured by a camera’s sensor. They offer photographers great flexibility for adjustments during editing and also require specialized software. RAW files are pretty large and contain more detailed information about the photo’s capture settings.

3 more important reasons why I do not share Raw files with my clients.

1. First of all , the RAW files are unprocessed and require specialized software to view and edit.

In the world of photography, RAW files represent an unedited foundation of a visual masterpiece. Unlike widely used JPEGs, they are untouched and contain data straight from the camera. However, unlocking the full potential of RAW files the specialized software and technical expertise are needed. Often it may be beyond the average client’s knowledge. These files hold many details such as exposure and color corrections. This require a very specific tools for manipulation and plenty of experience to use it. That’s why as a professional Maryland newborn Photographer I prefer to deliver images to my clients JPEG format instead. This approach not only simplifies the viewing process for clients but also preserves my artistic vision and maintains a consistent brand presentation.

2. Second of all, I do not share those files because I believe that allowing access to unedited RAW files may compromise my artistic vision and brand consistency, as clients could potentially apply edits that stray from my intended style.

Giving clients RAW files is tricky for every professional photographer. These files are the unaltered essence of the artist’s work, open to extensive modifications. Clients might make edits that do not represent the unique and creative style of the photographer. It may also impact negatively the consistency of brand and identity of the photographer. To maintain my brand consistency, I prefer delivering beautifully edited images, ensuring the final product resonates authentically with my artistic vision and maintains a cohesive brand image. I prefer that clients do not alter my images and do not make any changes to my artistic vision.

3. Finally, RAW files are large and may overwhelm with technical complexities.

RAW files, being large and technically complex, can be overwhelming for clients without the right software. These files contain every detail from the camera’s sensor, resulting in hefty sizes. When I provide edited images, like JPEGs, it simplifies the viewing experience for clients and gives me, as a professional Maryland newborn photograper control over quality and presentation. I provide final product in hi resolution that represent my style and my artistic vision and offering my clients a satisfying interaction with the final product.

In conclusion, I choose not to share RAW files for practical, artistic, and consistency reasons. RAW files are complex and require specialized software, making them challenging for clients. Sharing them could risk changes that can potentially put the images far away from my artistic vision and style of photography. deviate from the my style. Delivering edited images in common formats is also a strategy to simplify the client’s experience. It’s a way that prioritizes client satisfaction while maintaining the photographer’s unique creative vision.

1. How do you ensure the safety of my baby during the session?

As a skilled Maryland newborn photographer, my priority is ensuring the safety of your baby throughout each session. With specialized training, my main responsibility revolves around protecting your little one. Constantly vigilant, I closely monitor for any signs of distress or restlessness and maintain close proximity to the baby in case of movement. Additionally, I utilize composite images to achieve unique and captivating poses without ever compromising your baby’s comfort or well-being.

2. What measures do you implement for cleaning between each newborn?

Just like newborn safety, cleanliness is essential in my Maryland photography studio. I thoroughly sanitize all garments and props after each session, including steaming clothing to eliminate germs. My cleaning procedures involve using chemical cleaners that are specifically formulated to create a safe space for everyone. To ensure the well-being of our smallest clients, I leave enough time between sessions to thoroughly clean our studio.

3. I adore the selection of props in your studio, but there’s a specific heirloom or item I would love to incorporate into my newborn’s session. Would it be possible for you to include it?

Typically, I happily include special props and items in your Maryland newborn session. My prop collection offers a variety of options such as hats, headbands, furs, and more. If you have a personal item you’d like to add to the photoshoot, I are more than happy to do so! Just be sure to inform me beforehand. Keep in mind that certain items may require additional measures, such as creating a new composite design, to ensure your baby’s safety during the session.

4. In the event that my baby is awake during the photo shoot, what should I expect?

Occasionally, babies may resist falling asleep during their photo sessions. Although it’s uncommon for babies to remain awake for the entire session, your little one might just surprise you! But there’s no need to worry. Newborns typically find pleasure in observing their surroundings, and fall asleep at some point during the photoshoot.

5. Should I reschedule my photo session since my baby scratched his face?

Rest assured, there’s no need for you to reschedule your photo session due to a temporary imperfection in your newborn’s skin. I understand that concerns may arise regarding newborn acne, cradle cap, scratches, or eczema, but please know that these changes are merely fleeting and I will take care of them during the editing process. This way, your precious little one will shine brightly in all their glory in your newborn photos.

6. At what age should newborn photos be taken?

I recommend to book newborn photos for my in studio session located in Rockville Maryland within the first 14 days after birth, as this is the optimal time to capture their precious features. During this stage, babies still have their sweet little hands and feet, delicate fingers and toes, and are also more pliable. Additionally, infants under two weeks old tend to sleep longer and be calmer overall, providing the perfect opportunity for successful photo shoots. As babies grow older, they become more alert during sessions which can make it challenging to achieve desired poses.

To ensure a spot for your Maryland newborn session, I recommend scheduling an appointment during your second or third trimester of pregnancy. Using your expected due date as a guide, I will determine a tentative time for the session. Once your baby is born, we can finalize the exact date for the session.

7. What are my options if I am unable to schedule my baby’s photo shoot during the first two weeks of their life?

Occasionally, there may be unforeseen circumstances that arise and require you to reschedule your baby’s photo session. Although it is ideal to take newborn photos within the first two weeks, there are still opportunities for capturing beautiful images at a later time. In these situations, you may need to be more open-minded about the specific photos you receive, but I am committed to working with you and bringing your vision for your newborn photos to life.

8. What is the estimated duration of my newborn photo shoot?

Typically, a newborn photo shoot lasts for 1,5 to 3 hours. The duration of the shoot depends of the props chosen, the time taken to capture your little one’s images, and how many breaks are required during the process. Naturally, we aim to provide a relaxed experience for your baby throughout the session. If your little one needs to take a break to eat, have their diaper changed, or simply receive some loving snuggles from Mom or Dad, we will gladly pause the shoot to cater to those needs. Your baby’s comfort is our top priority at all times during the session!

9. Is it possible to include family members in the newborn photoshoot?

Absolutely! Baby’s relatives play a crucial role during this stage of your life, and you may want to include them in pictures with your little one. I offer various poses on cream, black or brown backdrop and images that can beautifully capture your whole family during this special time.

Conclusion.
