Newborn photography captures a unique phase in a baby’s life that cannot be replicated. It is a period of rapid change and growth, filled with new adventures every day. As a parent myself, I was constantly amazed by the changes I saw in my own children when they were newborns. When I work with these precious new babies (and their parents) in my Maryland Rockville studio is truly one of my favorite aspects of photography. Whether you are welcoming your first child or expanding your family, it would be an honor to capture this special time for you.

Colors for the Session: Blue, White, and Gold – A Palette Fit for Royalty.

When it comes to capturing the essence of a newborn baby, choosing the right colors can make all the difference when it comes to my baby photography in Maryland. In little Obi’s gallery of images, blue, white, and gold take center stage, creating an ethereal atmosphere that truly showcases his innocence and purity.

The session begins with various setups enhanced by digital backdrops. I created beautiful images full of moon, colorful rainbow and cloud in shape on heart. Check below the final results.

Once completed I started to wrap the baby Obi to capture some timeless portraits in the bucket. Parents love those images because those images cans how real beauty of every newborn baby. I incorporated some small props like little hats and teddy bears.

For the final set on the beanbag, parents choose gold color. Baby was very sleepy and so easy to pose. The bean bag was the perfect prop for baby Obi’s newborn session, providing a comfortable and secure spot for him to rest on. The soft gold color added an extra touch of warmth and luxury to the photos. As he peacefully slept, as a professional newborn photographer I captured a variety of poses that highlighted his tiny features and delicate beauty. Below final results of baby photography session in Maryland studio.

New parents often feel overwhelmed when it comes to their first photo shoot with their newborn. One particular challenge during these sessions is when your baby is resistant to falling asleep. However, rest assured that we have solutions to make the session run smoothly and produce favorable results for you.

1. What can be done when your newborn can’t fall asleep?

To encourage your newborn baby to sleep during the photography session, there are a few techniques I try as a professional newborn photographer during Maryland baby photoshoot. I start by ensuring the room is comfortably warm to help the baby relax. Swaddling with a soft blanket can also aid in soothing the newborn. If she remains alert, I try to offer a pacifier or some formula or breast milk. A little patience and expertise and many years of my experience working with babies is key to achieve a peaceful and wonderful sleepy newborn photos every family dreams of.

As a parent, you are aware of the various factors that may disrupt a baby’s sleep. This applies to newborns as well! Here are some suggestions to stay calm during a newborn session:

a) Frequent breaks are crucial during a newborn session to ensure both you and the baby have time to rest. Fatigue can cause babies to become fussy, making it essential to schedule regular breaks for both of you.

b) It’s essential to maintain patience during newborn sessions, as they may run longer than anticipated. Stay calm and ready for any situation. If the baby becomes fussy or doesn’t seem to settle, try not to become too frustrated – everything will eventually fall into place!

1. How do you ensure the safety of my baby during the session?

As a skilled Maryland newborn photographer, my priority is ensuring the safety of your baby throughout each session. With specialized training, my main responsibility revolves around protecting your little one. Constantly vigilant, I closely monitor for any signs of distress or restlessness and maintain close proximity to the baby in case of movement. Additionally, I utilize composite images to achieve unique and captivating poses without ever compromising your baby’s comfort or well-being.

2. What measures do you implement for cleaning between each newborn?

Just like newborn safety, cleanliness is essential in my Maryland photography studio. I thoroughly sanitize all garments and props after each session, including steaming clothing to eliminate germs. My cleaning procedures involve using chemical cleaners that are specifically formulated to create a safe space for everyone. To ensure the well-being of our smallest clients, I leave enough time between sessions to thoroughly clean our studio.

3. I adore the selection of props in your studio, but there’s a specific heirloom or item I would love to incorporate into my newborn’s session. Would it be possible for you to include it?

Typically, I happily include special props and items in your Maryland newborn session. My prop collection offers a variety of options such as hats, headbands, furs, and more. If you have a personal item you’d like to add to the photoshoot, I are more than happy to do so! Just be sure to inform me beforehand. Keep in mind that certain items may require additional measures, such as creating a new composite design, to ensure your baby’s safety during the session.

4. In the event that my baby is awake during the photo shoot, what should I expect?

Occasionally, babies may resist falling asleep during their photo sessions. Although it’s uncommon for babies to remain awake for the entire session, your little one might just surprise you! But there’s no need to worry. Newborns typically find pleasure in observing their surroundings, and fall asleep at some point during the photoshoot.

5. Should I reschedule my photo session since my baby scratched his face?

Rest assured, there’s no need for you to reschedule your photo session due to a temporary imperfection in your newborn’s skin. I understand that concerns may arise regarding newborn acne, cradle cap, scratches, or eczema, but please know that these changes are merely fleeting and I will take care of them during the editing process. This way, your precious little one will shine brightly in all their glory in your newborn photos.

6. At what age should newborn photos be taken?

I recommend to book newborn photos for my in studio session located in Rockville Maryland within the first 14 days after birth, as this is the optimal time to capture their precious features. During this stage, babies still have their sweet little hands and feet, delicate fingers and toes, and are also more pliable. Additionally, infants under two weeks old tend to sleep longer and be calmer overall, providing the perfect opportunity for successful photo shoots. As babies grow older, they become more alert during sessions which can make it challenging to achieve desired poses.

To ensure a spot for your Maryland newborn session, I recommend scheduling an appointment during your second or third trimester of pregnancy. Using your expected due date as a guide, I will determine a tentative time for the session. Once your baby is born, we can finalize the exact date for the session.

7. What are my options if I am unable to schedule my baby’s photo shoot during the first two weeks of their life?

Occasionally, there may be unforeseen circumstances that arise and require you to reschedule your baby’s photo session. Although it is ideal to take newborn photos within the first two weeks, there are still opportunities for capturing beautiful images at a later time. In these situations, you may need to be more open-minded about the specific photos you receive, but I am committed to working with you and bringing your vision for your newborn photos to life.

8. What is the estimated duration of my newborn photo shoot?

Typically, a newborn photo shoot lasts for 1,5 to 3 hours. The duration of the shoot depends of the props chosen, the time taken to capture your little one’s images, and how many breaks are required during the process. Naturally, we aim to provide a relaxed experience for your baby throughout the session. If your little one needs to take a break to eat, have their diaper changed, or simply receive some loving snuggles from Mom or Dad, we will gladly pause the shoot to cater to those needs. Your baby’s comfort is our top priority at all times during the session!

9. Is it possible to include family members in the newborn photoshoot?

Absolutely! Baby’s relatives play a crucial role during this stage of your life, and you may want to include them in pictures with your little one. I offer various poses on cream, black or brown backdrop and images that can beautifully capture your whole family during this special time.
